Helicopter Hunt
Grades: Pre K – 1
Length: 1 hour
Color images, video, and lots of fun activities to help kids learn what a helicopter is, what it can do and its basic parts.
Pre- visit materials are available.

Amazing Air!
Grades: 1 -3
Length: 1 hour
A fun, interactive workshop that uses hands-on experiments to help kids learn about: What is air? How do I know it’s there? Does air have weight? Can you feel air? What can air do?
This program is available as an outreach program.

What a Drag! The Forces of Flight
Grades: 3-6
Length: 1 hour
Students participate in experiments and activities that demonstrate how the four forces, weight, drag, lift and thrust impact flying objects and how helicopters use these forces to fly and maneuver.
This program supports the PA Science and Technology Standard 3.4 Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics.

Helicopter Academy: Power and its Flow
Grades: 6-10
Length: 1 hour
Students are introduced to the advantages and disadvantages of turbine vs. reciprocating engines; the transfer of the power plant’s power through the transmission to the main rotor and the tail rotor. The students will assemble a working model of a drive system.

Helicopter Academy: Helicopter Aerodynamics
Grades: 11-12 and early college
Length: 1 hour
This program investigates those aerodynamics characteristics that are unique to helicopter flight including Torque, gyroscopic precession, dissymmetry of lift and autorotation. Examples and student demonstrations are used to convey these principles.

Helicopter Ground School
Grades: 11-12 and early college
Length: 1 hour
The students will be introduced to the aircraft instruments and there functions; aircraft weight and balance measurements; flight planning with the concepts of map reading, route selection, navigation, effect of wind drift on heading, terrain avoidance, time distance measurement and flight plan filing.

Vertical Flight: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
Ages: Adult
Length: 1 hour
This program examines the role of helicopters in the past, present, and future. Topics include early helicopter and rotary wing flight pioneers, present day U.S. helicopter manufacturers, and helicopter pilot training. Future developments in the industry are also examined.

Invite Stubby to Your School!
Stubby is an interactive helicopter that travels to schools, camps and community events. Docents accompanying Stubby give kids a chance to sit in the cockpit, operate the controls and learn how each works. Students also learn about the hand-eye co-ordination necessary to fly a helicopter.

Registration & Information
For registration or information, please call 610-436-9600, Mon – Fri, 10am – 5pm.

-Educational programs are conducted Monday through Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm.
-Field trips should be scheduled at least 3 weeks in advance.
-Groups should be between 10 and 60.
-Field trip cost is $7.00 per student.
-Up to four Teachers and bus drivers are admitted free.
-Mileage is charged for locations beyond a 30 mile radius from the Museum.
